TAPAS
The National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) is the nodal training and research institute in the field of Social Defence. NISD is currently focusing on human resource development in the areas of drug abuse prevention, welfare of senior citizens, transgender welfare and beggary prevention.
TAPAS (Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services) is the Online Learning Management Platform created by NISD. TAPAS is a user friendly platform following the four quadrant approach in one line education - Video lectures, supplementary learning material, discussion forum and self-assessment. Through TAPAS, NISD is offering self-paced Online certificate courses in the key areas of Social Defence -Elderly care, Substance (Drug) Abuse prevention and Transgender issues.
The lectures in the course are given by eminent subject matter experts in the area from reputed institutions. Being an online course, these courses can be taken by anybody and learn at one’s own pace. Those who are interested in getting the certificate should fulfil the requirements of the course, such as submission of assignments and appearing in the final online examination.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
The material presented in these basic courses are of relevance to everybody in the society. The course contents has been prepared keeping in mind the people who are working or going to work in these areas. The courses would increase their knowledge and understanding. The lectures are given with animated power point presentations and video clipping of case studies. The discussion forum in the platform helps the participants for clearing doubts and for exchanging views with their peers. The course coordinator would provide his/her inputs wherever necessary in the discussion forum.
LEARNING PROCESS
The participants can enrich their knowledge by going through the Videos and the additional learning material provided. The self-assessment questions would help evaluate one’s understanding. There would be assignments after each module. The participants who would like to appear for the examination and obtain certificate would need to submit the assignments. The assignments would be evaluated and comments provided. The final examination would be conducted online.
LEARNING OUTCOME
By undergoing the course, the person would be able to get a clear understanding of the different issues related to Elderly care/Drug abuse prevention/ transgender persons. The issues are discussed with reference to the relevant laws/acts. This would help in appreciating the issues and their solutions from the legal point of view. The people working in these areas can follow up this course with advanced courses which are offered by NISD.
